Eye Care Center

Living in the digital age often entails dedicating 9-10 hours to work and online content consumption, whether on mobile phones, tablets, or computers. Staring at the screen continuously for 2 hours without a break may result in eye strain, dry eyes, and blurred vision, gradually affecting eye health. As of 2022, statistics indicate that 45 percent of the global population, totaling 2.2 billion people, experienced eye-related issues. Furthermore, the World Health Organization anticipates that within the next 30 years, more than 3.5 billion individuals worldwide will develop myopia unknowingly.

In addition to dry eyes and refractive errors, various other eye conditions stemming from genetic disorders, physical ailments, and age-related degenerative eye diseases can influence eyesight. Fortunately, contemporary advancements in eye treatment technology and innovation enable swift diagnosis and intervention for these eye conditions. In certain instances, early detection and treatment are achievable even before the symptoms of eye conditions become apparent.

Recently, a new,* cutting-edge technology known as SMILE® Pro has emerged for correcting refractive errors. This bladeless laser surgery is grounded in the ReLEx SMILE technique and employs the ZEISS VISUMAX 800 to address refractive issues like myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. This technology offers swift and high-precision refractive corrections, eliminating the necessity for eyeglasses or contact lenses and thereby enhancing the quality of life for patients. The Eye Care Center utilizes cutting-edge technology for refractive corrections and various surgical procedures related to cataracts, pterygium, glaucoma, retina, extraocular muscles, eyelids, eye sockets, and corneal transplantation.

If your daily routine involves extensive online activities, notice any changes in your vision, or if you fall within the age group recommended for regular eye exams, you should have a screening test or seek treatment for any potential eye conditions. A skilled ophthalmologist can efficiently conduct an eye exam at a well-equipped eye center, providing comprehensive assessments for refractive errors and other eye conditions.

Specialties

  • Cataract surgery with Phaco and multifocal IOL implant at our facility incorporates phacoemulsification with active sentry and a digital marking system to measure refractive power in real-time during surgery. This approach enhances the accuracy of the procedure, minimizing the likelihood of errors. Our meticulous ophthalmologists carefully select the most appropriate intraocular lens for each patient, ensuring they achieve a quality of vision well-suited for their daily routines.
  • Small Incision Lenticule Extraction (SMILE® Pro) represents a notable technological advance, utilizing the ZEISS VISUMAX 800, a significant technological jump from ReLEx SMILE. This technique delivers effective refractive correction with a laser time that is three times shorter, reducing from 25 to 8-10 seconds. SMILE Pro offers enhanced accuracy, safety, and a more cooperative patient due to less anxiety or stress. Notably, the procedure involves only a 2 – 4 mm incision and eliminates the need for a corneal flap, reducing the risk of side effects compared to traditional LASIK procedures. The recovery period is shorter, allowing patients to resume their normal daily activities within 24 hours after the procedure.
  • Femto LASIK (Laser In-Situ Keratomileusis) is a refractive correction surgery that elevates the corneal flap using a femtosecond laser. This approach enhances accuracy and reduces side effects compared to traditional microkeratome LASIK procedures. The advanced femtosecond laser, specifically the VISUMAX 800, contributes to heightened precision and is three times faster in creating a corneal flap, further improving the overall efficiency of the procedure.
  • Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK): This technique can correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism refractive errors without raising a corneal flap by directly removing the top layer of the cornea before reshaping it with an excimer laser.
  • Cornea Transplant: This procedure involves the replacement of a diseased or damaged cornea with healthy donor tissue. Contemporary cornea transplantation techniques may now include the removal of partial rather than full-thickness cornea, depending on the type of eye disease, its severity, and the ophthalmologist's discretion. This approach offers advantages such as reduced chances of corneal transplant rejection and fewer complications. Through corneal transplantation, patients can regain clear and unclouded vision.
  • Sutureless pterygium surgery: This type of surgery employs a highly secure biological adhesive instead of sutures for wound closure. The method ensures a smooth wound surface, minimizes irritation, accelerates recovery time, and eliminates the need for stitch removal.
  • Endoscopic DCR: This procedure is for making a connection between the lacrimal sac and the nasal cavity through a new tract. The benefits of this technique include a low risk of infection, efficacious outcomes for blockage, absence of visible scarring externally, and no requirement for hospitalization. In addition, compared to traditional methods, endoscopic DCR enables faster and enhanced patient recovery due to smaller incisions.
  • YAG laser capsulotomy: This technique addresses posterior capsule opacification, a complication of cataract surgery, ultimately improving vision.
  • Laser peripheral iridotomy (LPI) or laser iridoplasty: This technique utilizes a laser to create a small hole on the edge of the iris for draining intraocular fluid and reducing intraocular pressure, two factors playing a crucial role in acute angle-closure glaucoma.
  • Selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) is a procedure to treat open-angle glaucoma when eye drops are ineffective.
  • Conventional and micro-invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS): These low-risk, effective techniques lower intraocular pressure by creating an opening for the outflow of intraocular fluid. However, surgical procedure for glaucoma varies from person to person, based on the ophthalmologist.
  • ROP laser treatment: Premature newborns often experience retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) due to underdeveloped retinas. Laser therapy can hinder the abnormal growth of retinal blood vessels or the formation of scar tissue that could lead to retinal detachment, thereby facilitating the restoration of vision in newborns.
  • Fluorescein Fundus Angiography (FFA) and Indocyanine Green Angiography (ICG): These angiographic techniques assess retinal pathology and blood flow, supplying crucial information to increase treatment efficacy.
  • Panretinal Photocoagulation (PRP): This treatment halts retinal leakage and prevents the formation of new blood vessels in cases of diabetic retinopathy. Additionally, PRP can treat macular edema (via focal laser) and address blurry vision resulting from retinal vein occlusion.
  • Laser Retinopexy: This technique seals retinal leakage with a laser, preventing fluid entry into the space behind the retina. Notably, it can be done as an outpatient, eliminating hospital stays.
  • Intravitreous injection: This is a treatment method for retinal disorders such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vein occlusion.
  • Pars Plana Vitrectomy (PPV): Recognized for its high safety profile and effectiveness, PPV involves minimal risk, no incisions, and a swift recovery.
  • Eye muscle surgery: This surgical intervention aims to restore eye coordination and treat strabismus, enhancing patients' confidence and appearance.
  • Blepharoplasty: Utilized for treating ptosis of the eyelid, this surgical procedure enhances a patient's vision and improves their appearance by rejuvenating the eyelids.
  • Eye tumor resection: This surgical procedure involves the removal of eye tumors.
