MedPark Foundation, in partnership
with Friends of the Blind Club
and Shell People Relations Club,
held a “Read for the Blind” training session.
On Sunday, July 30, 2023, Mrs. Somthawin Patanavanich, a representative of MedPark Foundation, delivered a welcome speech for thirty participants of a training session held at the Forum, MedPark Hospital. In addition, captivating members of Shell People Relations Club, led by Asada Harinsut, Jetsupha Thiengtham, and Witsanu Euarchukiati, accompanied by the volunteers from the Friends of the Blind Club, Niramon Piamudomsuk, Netamporn Krisnapani, Suwan Kliangpranee, and Somthawin Boonnom, greeted and supported the participants with close assistance.
In the training session, participants learned how to use the “Read for the Blind” application and OBI software to produce an audiobook, select a book, and correctly pronounce words. Cholatip “Ig” Yimyong, a visually impaired lecturer and the administrator of the Information Service for the Blind, shared her experience on DAISY audio books and advised on narrating audiobooks from the perspective of real users.
Audiobook files, produced by volunteers, will be disseminated through service channels for the visually impaired, such as DAISY audiobooks accessible from the National Library for the Blind and Print Disabled and the 1414 Plus hotline.
