MedPark Hospital elevates new safety measures by launching the Emerging Infectious Diseases & Acute Respiratory Infection Clinic (EIDARIC)
Reduces risks and prepares for the future with Dual System
Bangkok, 25 June 2022 – MedPark Hospital, co-designed by doctors, strives to provide patient care with the highest level of safety by opening the Emerging Infectious Diseases & Acute Respiratory Infection Clinic (EIDARIC), presided by Dr. Kiattibhoom Vongrachit, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Sopon Iamsirithaworn Deputy Director General, Department of Disease Control – Ministry of Public Health and Dr. Tares Krassanairawiwong, Department Chief of The Department of Health Service Support for the clinic inauguration ceremony.
After Thailand reopens its borders to welcome tourists, there is a considerably upward trend of domestic and international travelers as well as medical tourism. MedPark Hospital recognizes the need to tighten screening measures to build public confidence in the safety of the hospital. EIDARIC is established to safely care for not only COVID-19 patients but also patients with new emerging diseases. EIDARIC screening measures can elevate the safety for patients and their families, and for the benefit of health care workers and society.
Dr. Kiattibhoom Vongrachit, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Health, said, “Seeing a private hospital tightens its vigilant measures against the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and well-prepared to tackle new emerging diseases denotes the hand-in-hand cooperation between the public and private sector – important partners –ensuring that our country can effectively tackle new emerging diseases. MedPark Hospital represents the advancement and readiness of the country’s health system to welcome medical travelers and Thai nationals with earnest service and safety. Health care workers can be confident that the hospital has laid out effective preventive measures to make the hospital ground a true safe zone.”
Even though other public and private organizations are starting to relax their COVID-19 preventive measures, the hospital remains the main point of contact to treat, monitor, and devise plans to handle ongoing and future infectious diseases for patients and society. MedPark hospital has, thus, developed the Dual Management System for the hospital to separate patients with infectious diseases from normal patients.
Dr. Pongpat Patanavanich, Managing Director of MedPark Hospital, added, “We resolve to treat high acuity and complex diseases. Therefore, our hospital must be the safest and most hygienic place to protect patients from the risks of infectious diseases, regardless of whether it's COVID-19 or other emerging diseases. We have implemented a dual system to separate symptomatic, high-risk patients from others; they can receive treatments at negative-pressure EIDARIC outside the hospital’s main building to decrease the risk of transmission. Patients can be confident that MedPark hospital is a ‘safe haven’ and will receive treatments from medical specialists with assurance.”
EIDARIC is a negative pressure clinic, designed and constructed to confer effective airborne infectious disease containment. With its one-stop medical care and service, EIDARIC is properly multi-compartmentalized, where patients can see a medical specialist, obtain a quick swab for RT-PCR COVID-19 test, have chest radiography, collect prescription drugs, make a payment, and receive a follow-up appointment all in one place. EIDARIC is air-conditioned- Air vented from the EIDARIC passes through a HEPA filter, decreasing the risk of airborne transmission both within and outside the clinic.
These are the efforts and measures taken for the safety and quality of care, so that patients – Thai or international – can come to see their doctors with a peace of mind.
