Echocardiogram can be examined while exercising enabling visualization of cardiac contraction and heart valve motions at an increased rate to assess its function under physiologic stress and determine if there is adequacy of oxygenation. It can evaluate if there are abnormalities such as difficulty breathing, chest discomfort or tightness, irregular heartbeat, or altered cardiac electrical activity. It's suitable for people experiencing weariness, easy fatigability during exertion, chest discomfort, or tightness. Who should get Echocardiogram?
- People with chest discomfort or easy fatigability.
- People with hypertension.
- People with diabetes.
- Smokers.
- People with a direct family member with cardiovascular disease.
Recommended
- Do not eat or drink (except water) at least 4 hours before Dobutamine Stress Echocardiogram and CT Coronary Angiogram and Calcium Scoring.
- If you have pre-existing health conditions or medications you have to take, please notify our staff prior to the procedure.
